Sources: Wolves want to sign prolific goalscorer
Wolves want to bolster their front line with a prolific goalscorer in the summer window, sources have told Football Insider.
It is believed that a striker is one of the top priorities for Molineux boss Julen Lopetegui as the off-season approaches.
Lopetegui, 56, has overseen an improvement in form since taking the Wolves hot seat in November.
The Spaniard has won nine of his 23 matches in charge of the Midlands club, leaving them on the brink of securing another season of Premier League football.
They are 14th in the top flight – seven points clear of the drop zone with four games still to play.
But scoring goals continues to be an issue for Wolves despite the arrival of Matheus Cunha from Atletico Madrid in January.
The Brazil international joined on an initial loan deal, but an obligation to buy clause was activated meaning Lopetegui’s side will pay a reported £35million to seal a permanent switch.
He has scored just twice in 17 appearances across all competitions in the second half of the 2022-23 campaign.
Wolves also moved to add striker Sasa Kalajdzic from Stuttgart last summer (2022).
However, the Austria international suffered a cruciate ligament rupture on his full debut for the club back in September – ruling him out for the season.
Veteran forward Diego Costa was drafted in as a stop-gap later that month, but has managed just one Premier League goal in 20 appearances.

Once-prolific Raul Jimenez has also struggled for goals this term and is yet to register a strike in 13 top-flight appearances in the 2022-23 campaign.
Jimenez is out of contract in June 2024, while Costa is set to leave the club when his contract expires next month.
In other news, Wolves could now sell midfielder for club-record fee.
