Injury expert ‘concerned’ about ‘strange’ Adams setback at Southampton
Ralph Hasenhuttl will need to give greater “clarity” before we understand the extent of Che Adams’ recent setback at Southampton.
So says injury expert Ben Dinnery, who runs the Premier Injuries site and has a background in medicine and data analysis.
Adams, 25, has not played for the Saints since their 1-1 draw with Brighton on 4 December after suffering a hamstring injury in training.

Per the Daily Echo last Saturday (11 December), manager Hasenhuttl claimed: “It is a very strange injury. The doctors said hasn’t seen it often.”
Dinnery analysed the Austrian boss’s language and offered up his theory about the striker’s latest knock.
“It depends on how you interpret ‘strange’,” he told Football Insider‘s Adam Williams.
“He has used the same word to describe Stuart Armstrong’s calf problem, which has carried over from the summer.
“He was talking about the mechanism of injury. They were doing low-impact work towards the end of the session and then he pulled up with the problem.
“So that might give us some indication. Alternatively, it could be to do with the location of the injury and which particular exercise has caused it.
“That is where we need some clarity from Hasenhuttl. We don’t have any sort of timeline on when he will be back, which is a concern.”

Adams has found the back of the net four times in 14 appearances this term.
His Southampton side drew 2-2 away to Crystal Palace last night (15 December) and are currently 15th in the league table.
