Southampton fans have called for their club to sign Flynn Downes on a permanent deal following their victory over Leeds United on Sunday (26 May).
The midfielder put in an excellent performance as he helped the Saints earn an instant return to the Premier League with their 1-0 victory over the Whites in the Championship play-off final at Wembley.
The 25-year-old has started in 35 of his 37 appearances for Russell Martin’s side after joining on a season-long loan from West Ham last summer.
Football Insider revealed earlier this month the Hammers are willing to accept suitable offers for Downes once the transfer window reopens next month.
The Saints are now likely to stand a better chance of striking a deal for the former England youth international after securing their place back in the Premier League.
