Injury expert issues Livramento update after 'Shock' development at Southampton

Tino Livramento should be available for Southampton in their next match despite his recent “shock” withdrawal from international duty.

So says injury expert Ben Dinnery, who runs the Premier Injuries site and has a background in medicine and data analysis.

Livramento, who signed from Chelsea for £5million in the summer, was named in Lee Carsley’s England Under-21 squad at the start of the month.

But Southampton confirmed on 8 November that the 19-year-old left-back had withdrawn from the squad due to an unspecified injury.

No update has yet been given on the status of the youngster, who has not missed a minute of league action this season.

But Dinnery is confident that Livramento’s Young Lions absence was fatigue-related and predicts he will be back to face Norwich this Sunday.

“It was a little bit of a shock withdrawal,” he told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams.

“But let’s not forget, we’re talking about a very young lad who has come from obscurity.

“He had a good reputation for the development side at Chelsea but he has really stepped up at Southampton.

“We all expected him to be backup, a squad player. But he has nailed down that starting berth.

“He was still solid against Aston Villa but there were signs that a little bit of jadedness may be setting in. So fatigue may well be the real reason.

“But this has been a great opportunity for him to rest up. So I am cautiously optimistic this withdrawal was just a precautionary measure.

“He should be back for the next game. I hope so, for my fantasy football team.”
