Spain international most likely player to join Tottenham in January - Sky

By Harvey Byrne

Isco is the most likely player to join Tottenham in the January transfer window, according to a report.

Sky Sports’ Football Whispers section claimed on Tuesday that the Spain international is the likeliest winter signing for Mauricio Pochettino ahead of a possible title bid.

Isco, 24, joined Real Madrid from Malaga for £27million in the summer of 2013, but he has found himself down the midfield pecking order at the Spanish giants and could be available in the upcoming window.

Football Whispers, which gathers all transfer rumours across the globe and calculates the likelihood of them happening, rates it 3.5 out of 5 that Isco will join Tottenham, with five the highest possible ranking and meaning it is a certainty.

“If Isco were to move to White Hart Lane in January, he’d still face stiff competition for places, as Pochettino boasts a wealth of midfield options in Mousa Dembele, Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli,” wrote the Sky Sports website.

“However, the Spaniard will not be up against such world-renowned names as Luka Modric, Toni Kroos, Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale when fighting for a starting berth as he is in Madrid.

“Furthermore, his ability to play on either flank, centrally as a number 10 or even in a deeper midfield role, will be perfectly suited for Tottenham’s 4-2-3-1 system. The Football Whispers Index is currently ranking the whisper a 3.5 out of 5, which suggests there is some substance to the rumours and is something definitely worth following as January approaches.”

Isco is rated a more likely January signing for the north London side than Jordan Lukaku, who is also linked by Sky in the Football Whispers section.

The midfielder has started just two matches for Real Madrid under Zinedine Zidane in the new campaign and could be looking for a move away in the next window.

With Spurs currently battling for the Premier League title and competing in the Champions League, if they were to maintain their position they could look an attractive destination for the Spaniard.

In other Tottenham transfer news, Spurs are set to hold a meeting about signing Brazilian sensation Guilherme Arana.
