‘Speaking To A Few People…’ – Exclusive: Hutton drops Villa late-window signings reveal

Alan Hutton has admitted he is not expecting any more signings at Aston Villa this month after the arrival of Morgan Sanson.

The former Villa and Scotland defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed supporters should expect a quiet end to the January window after speaking to people at Villa Park in recent days.

The Villans announced the 26-year-old’s capture on Tuesday after Marseille boss Andre Villas-Boas confirmed the French outfit had accepted an offer over the weekend.

The Portuguese boss previously stated that the French outfit had rejected a “pathetic” bid from the Villans.

Hutton admitted it must be frustrating to lose one of your top stars halfway through the season and that Sanson looked an exciting capture for the Villans.

However, the Holte End favourite also suggested the Frenchman was likely to be the only new arrival unless there were any surprise exits before next week’s transfer deadline.

Hutton told Football Insider: “I think he’s done really well for them, he looks a good player, ticks all the boxes, I think, for Villa and their point of view

“Nobody in January wants to lose their players, epecially their better players, if you want, so I understand why he’s frustrated but the lure of moving to the Premier League, to a team that’s doing excellently well at the moment, I mean he must be really excited at the opportunity of playing with Villa in the Premier League.”

Asked if he expected any more signings at Villa Park, Hutton said: “Not really, it’s been quiet, if I’m honest. I’ve been speaking to a few people and it’s literally the Sanson one and that is it at the moment.

“Whether they can get a bit of wriggle room if they can get some other people out then it may change but I don’t see too many signings.”

Sanson’s arrival comes after Villa allowed midfielder Conor Hourihane to join Swansea City on loan until the end of the campaign.

The Frenchman played 19 times across all competitions for Marseille during the first half of the season, with two goals and three assists under his belt.
