Rangers

Wes Foderingham is injured and set to miss Rangers’ Scottish Cup semi-final clash against Celtic on Sunday, according to Twitter rumours.

Manager Pedro Caixinha gave no indication at his media briefing on Thursday that the Ibrox goalkeeper was a doubt for the Old Firm fixture.

But speculation intensified on social media on Friday afternoon that Foderingham is out of Rangers’ biggest match of the season to date.

There has been no official confirmation but the nature and number of messages suggests the rumours are well sourced.

It would be a huge blow to Rangers if Foderingham misses out as he has arguably been Rangers’ outstanding player in what has been a difficult season.

Should the Ibrox number one be unavailable, his deputy Jak Alnwick would likely start his first match for the club.

Rangers supporters are desperately hoping that rumours Foderingham will not play are incorrect.

Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:

Foderingham, 26, has made a huge impact at Rangers since joining from Swindon in the summer of 2015.

The former England Under-19 international was a key player in the team’s promotion last season and has taken his game to new heights this season, in which he has started all 33 of the club’s Scottish Premiership fixtures.

In other Rangers team news, one of the club’s outstanding players has revealed a leading Premier League club are keeping close tabs on him ahead of a summer move.
