Spotted: Shock Tottenham training ground image today is what every fan has been waiting for
By Richard Parks
Harry Kane has been pictured without a protective boot to fuel hopes he could make a stunning return for Tottenham’s Premier League showdown against Chelsea next weekend.
Kane limped out of Spurs’ 4-1 win over Bournemouth a fortnight ago and was subsequently ruled out for around a month with ankle ligament damage.
The striker was today (Sunday) pictured in conversation with England manager Gareth Southgate at Tottenham’s Enfield training ground without the boot he had been wearing to protect his injured ankle.
Football London correspondent Alasdair Gold uploaded the image of a relaxed-looking Kane on to his personal Twitter account and suggested that the 24-year-old could make it back for Spurs’ next match against the champions at Stamford Bridge next Sunday.
Protective boot-free Harry Kane pops out to see Gareth Southgate at Hotspur Way. A week today and it’s Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. Will that ankle have recovered fully in time? As I wrote a couple of weeks back, he always would have had one eye on that game. pic.twitter.com/Q5rzR9x2Vw

Kane’s reputation as a miracle man will be further enhanced if he is genuinely in contention to play against Chelsea just three weeks after suffering ankle ligament damage that prompted initial fears he could miss the rest of the season. Due to the fortunate international break timing, the Spurs goal king has missed only one missed one match for his club so far – a facile FA Cup win at Swansea City – and there is now a sense he might not be absent for any more. That would fill every Tottenham fan with great joy given his stunning scoring exploits, with his 39 matches this season yielding 35 goals.
In other Tottenham news, it can be revealed that the club have ripped up the contract of a defender.
