Spurs’ vibrant young team is packed full of youthful talent and the development of the likes of Kane, Danny Rose, Harry Winks, Josh Onomah and Cameron Carter-Vickers shows there is a pathway from the academy into the first team.
Central midfield pair Duncan, 18, and Oakley-Boothe, 17, are the latest to benefit from Pochettino’s willingness to integrate the club’s outstanding young players into the senior set-up.
The duo are highly thought of at Spurs, with Oakley-Boothe also catching the eye of England to the extent he has accumulated eight Under-17 caps for the national side.
Both players are not only regulars for Tottenham’s Under-18s but have already represented the club’s Under-23s development side, which is regarded as one step below professional level.
Spurs fans will be delighted that Duncan and Oakley-Boothe have caught the eye of Pochettino, as there is real pride among the fanbase at the success of the club’s academy in recent years as well as the manager’s willingness to embrace youth.
Other home-grown players to have established themselves in the first team in recent seasons include Andros Townsend, Ryan Mason, Tom Carroll and Nabil Bentaleb.
In other Tottenham news, the club have terminated the contract of one of their defenders.
