'Spurs are in a mess' - Bent makes big Tottenham transfer claim involving senior stars
Darren Bent claims he can see Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho having a “really big overhaul” of his defence in the summer transfer window.
The former Spurs and England striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, believes there are several players the Portuguese boss does not want at the club.
Mourinho lined up with a backline of Ryan Sessegnon, Toby Alderweireld, Eric Dier, Japhet Tanganga and Serge Aurier for Tuesday night’s 3-0 defeat to RB Leipzig.
He also has the likes of Jan Vertonghen, Juan Foyth, Ben Davies and Davinson Sanchez at his disposal, with Danny Rose and Kyle Walker-Peters out on loan.
Bent believes Mourinho is making do with what he has got, suggesting that there may be a major turnover of players in the summer.
Bent told Football Insider: “Spurs are in a mess, what do they do?

“I think there’s a lot of players there, defensively, who are maybe not Jose’s cup of tea but he’s got to stick with them because he’s got no one else.
“Come the end of the season, I can see him having a really big overhaul of players, getting as many as he can out and then him trying to rebuild.
Having been knocked out of the Champions League, Spurs will turn their attention to securing a top-four spot in the Premier League this season.
The currently sit eighth in the table, seven points behind fourth-placed Chelsea and four off Manchester United in fifth.
