Graeme Shinnie issues Celtic warning ahead of clash v Aberdeen

Aberdeen captain Graeme Shinnie has warned Celtic that his team are out to win in Glasgow ahead of the upcoming top of the table clash at Parkhead this weekend.

The Dons go into the game on the back of a 4-1 win over Hibs, whilst Celtic saw their unbeaten run end in emphatic style, losing 4-0 to Hearts on Sunday.

The points gap between the sides is only now down to two and Shinnie, a mainstay of the team under Derek McInnes, has indicated that he and his team-mates are aiming for a rare victory in the East End of Glasgow.

“We’ll go to Parkhead with confidence. It’s never an easy one to go to but we’re relishing it”, he said, as quoted by the Press and Journal.

“Celtic can be beaten. We didn’t do that here but teams have shown it can be done and we feel we have the squad that can do it.”

The Dons haven’t won a league match against the Hoops in Glasgow since 2004, and haven’t won a match at Parkhead since 2014, when they won 2-1 in a Scottish Cup tie. Last season’s matches saw the Bhoys win 4-1 and 1-0, on their way to an unbeaten league campaign.

The first match between the teams this season resulted in a convincing 3-0 win for the Hoops at Pittodrie, thanks to a double from Moussa Demeble and a Kieran Tierney wonder strike.

Whilst the gap between the sides is currently two points, the Celts can extend that to five if they defeat bottom of the table Partick Thistle in their midweek game in hand at Celtic Park.
