Stan Collymore delivers verdict on Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp, states what has been exceptional

Stan Collymore has stated that Jurgen Klopp’s signing of Sadio Mane has been “exceptional” but was critical of the other Liverpool additions.

Former Premier League striker Collymore also believes that the central defenders brought in by the German have not been great.

These comments follow the Reds 2-0 defeat to league strugglers Hull on Saturday which continued their recent poor form.

They are yet to win a game in the league since they picked up all three points against Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City on new year’s eve.

Since then they have lost to the likes of Southampton in the EFL Cup, Swansea in the league and Championship outfit Wolves in the FA Cup.

Broadcaster Collymore questioned Klopp and the players he has brought in since arriving at Anfield in 2015 as stated on his radio phone-in.

“Nobody can say that one Jurgen Klopp signing, other than Mane, has been exceptional,” said Collymore.

“There have been two or three that have shown promise and been quite good and there have been one or two that have been very poor. Karius was very poor. I don’t think any of the central defenders that Jurgen Klopp brought into the club have been great.”

As a result of their recent defeats, Klopp’s side have now fallen outside of the top four and 13 points behind leaders Chelsea.

The Merseyside club will be looking over their shoulder as their north-west rivals Manchester United are only place and point behind them in the table.

Jose Mourinho’s side secured a comfortable 3-0 win at Premier League champions Leicester on Sunday to close the gap on their rivals.

Klopp will now prepare for a tough fixture against north London outfit Tottenham next Saturday at Anfield, knowing dropped points could see United overtake them in the table.

In other Liverpool news, the Reds are in the race to sign this £10millon-rated left-back after a major development.
