Stan Collymore predicts Arsenal clash against Bayern Munich, backs both teams to score
By Amir Mir
Stan Collymore has backed Bayern Munich to beat Arsenal 2-1 in their Champions League clash at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday night.
Arsene Wenger’s side travel to Germany looking to cause an upset against the Bundesliga champions and clinch a much-needed advantage in the first-leg round of 16 tie.
Both teams met during the Champions League group stages last season when then Bayern boss Pep Guardiola inflicted a 5-1 defeat on the London-based club.
Now, the German giants are managed by former Chelsea and Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti who will be hoping to lift another European trophy in his illustrious managerial career.
Ahead of the game, former Liverpool striker Collymore stated his prediction for the mouth-watering encounter as posted on his personal Twitter account.
If the Gunners can stay in the tie at the end of the first 90 minutes then they will be confident enough to get a result on home soil.
Wenger’s side beat Munich 2-0 during the group stages last term and will be hoping to produce the same sort of display this time round.
However, the Premier League side go into this match on the back of a few bad results in the league.
They were beaten against Watford and Chelsea in the space of a week but followed it up with a rusty three points against relegation-threatened Hull last time out.
