Celtic face a “tough ask” to keep star striker Odsonne Edouard at Parkhead after his fantastic form this season, according to Alan Hutton.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, the former Scotland defender has been left raving over both the quality and consistency of the 22-year-old’s performances.

The Frenchman leads the way as the top scorer in the Premiership this season with 21 goals, while he also has 12 assists for his teammates.

Boyhood Rangers fans Hutton has lauded the former PSG man’s game-changing qualities, admitting his fears came true in the Hoops’ League Cup final win over their fierce rivals.

Hutton told Football Insider: “He is the main man – he’s a talisman, whatever you want to call him, he’s the go-to guy.

“If you’re struggling, you give the ball to him. His standards are through the roof. He’s set the bar high and it’s about trying to get there consistently and that boy does.

“He’s changed games throughout the season, the League Cup final being one as a massive stick out point. I thought Celtic were bang average until he came on the pitch and instantly I thought: ‘Oh no, it’s going to change here,’ and it did.

“He plays consistently well at a high level, it could be European, cup games, league games, wherever it is, he plays at high standards.

Edouard has a total of 60 goals in 126 appearances for the Bhoys, his one and only hat-trick coming against Motherwell in 2017.
