Star with 100% dribble success shines – Arsenal winners vs Aston Villa

Arsenal’s crucial Premier League win against Aston Villa was spearheaded by the performance of three stars.

Emi Buendia’s late goal had given Aston Villa a 2-1 win over Arsenal in the reverse fixture, but the Gunners extracted their revenge at Emirates Stadium.

Mikel Arteta’s side scored four in the second half thanks to Gabriel, Martin Zubimendi, Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Jesus.

Below are Arsenal‘s three winners from their 4-1 victory over Aston Villa.

The 23-year-old did make an important tackle on Sancho when Aston Villa looked to have opened up the Arsenal defence.

Hincapie was also effective going forward, creating an early chance for Viktor Gyokeres with a bursting run into the penalty area.

Mikel Merino

The absence of Declan Rice was a big miss for Arteta, and Mikel Merino returned to his natural midfield role to fill the void.

Merino could have faced the axe for Arsenal in this game, but the Spaniard was crucial in the middle in the park to break up the play.

The 29-year-old won all his aerial duels and four ground duels in a physically imposing performance against a strong Aston Villa midfield.

Gabriel

Gabriel’s return to the Arsenal starting XI was a major plus for Arteta, following a period on the sidelines with a thigh injury.

The Brazilian headed home the opening goal of the game, when he showed his strength in-front of goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez.

At the other end, Gabriel produced a brave header to deny Youri Tielemans a big chance to reduce the deficit.
