Stefan Bajcetic: Liverpool star undergoes medical after offer accepted

Liverpool sensation Stefan Bajcetic is set to undergo a Red Bull Salzburg medical today after agreeing a loan move, sources have told Football Insider.

The Premier League club have agreed a season-long deal for the 19-year-old central midfielder with the Austrian giants.

Salzburg faced stiff competition from Barcelona but they have won the race for Bajcetic after their offer of a £1 million-plus loan fee was accepted by Liverpool.

Bajcetic is now set to join Jurgen Klopp’s former assistant, Pepijn Lijnders, in Salzburg as the club seeks to regain the Austrian Bundesliga title from Sturm Graz.

Arne Slot played Bajcetic in all of Liverpool’s pre-season fixtures and was reportedly pleased with his development so far, but now believes a loan move would be best for all parties.

The youngster missed 41 games for the Merseyside club last season with a reoccurring calf injury and has since fallen down the pecking order.

Bajcetic had broken into the first team under Jurgen Klopp in 2022, making a huge impression in 11 Premier League appearances in which he thrived in multiple roles.

It’s been a slow transfer window for new Liverpool manager Arne Slot and it’s unlikely to get much better for the Dutchman.

Football Insider revealed (August 27) that Liverpool are considering delaying their transfer business until January after struggling to bolster their squad in the off-season.
