Stefan Borson: Everton could agree Richarlison deal

Tottenham forward Richarlison is being linked with his former club Everton following his inconsistent form in north London.

Richarlison joined Spurs in a £60million deal from Everton in the summer of 2022, but he has struggled to nail down a regular starting spot.

Tottenham fans have been unimpressed by Richarlison’s recent performances, with many urging Thomas Frank to not start the Brazil international again.

Richarlison is believed to be open to an Everton return as David Moyes looks to strengthen his attacking options in the January transfer window.

Richarlison to Saudi verdict shared

Former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson exclusively told Football Insider Everton could agree a deal for Richarlison despite reports linking him with a move to Saudi Arabia.

Richarlison, who is under contract until June 2027, has started in 10 of his 16 appearances for Tottenham this season, registering three goals and two assists.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Borson said: “He’s been talked about with Saudi so many times you sort of start to think maybe it wasn’t true anyway because, if it had been true, why has he not gone?

“I don’t think it’s impossible that he ends up back at Everton if the fee was low and his wages were realistic. I think that’s a deal that could happen.

“I’m not sure about in January, but I think it’s a deal that could happen at some point.”

Richarlison was linked with a Tottenham exit in the summer transfer window, but he remained in north London.

Tottenham to make Richarlison transfer decision

Meanwhile, it was reported last month Orlando City want to sign Richarlison in the summer of 2026 in a deal worth around £30m.

However, Borson believes the 28-year-old could return to Everton.

“Clearly, for a player like Richarlison, Saudi is going to be probably quite interesting,” said Borson.

“We know that the Brazilians generally have taken the money from the Saudis and can handle that kind of environment. I suspect he won’t be getting a new contract because I just think probably the economics won’t work.

“He comes in and out in terms of on the field. Sometimes he looks like a really top player, and then other times you start to think he should be sold. But I could see him going back to Everton.”

Richarlison previously registered 53 goals and 15 assists in 152 appearances for Everton.
