Stefan Borson shares new Everton stadium verdict after official update
Everton will have plenty of time to resolve any health and safety approval issues for their new stadium after test events have been announced.
That is the view of finance expert Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider it all sounds “very positive” for the Merseyside giants as they are on course to make the move from Goodison Park in time for next season.
Everton confirmed on 2 January the club will host three test events at the new stadium on Bramley-Moore Dock as they look to receive the necessary licence and safety certificates to operate at full capacity.
There will be 10,000 fans in the stands on 17 February for an Under-18s friendly, which will be followed by an Under-21s game in front of 25,000 in late March or early April, with a third event set to take place later in the season.
The capacity of the £750million stadium will be 52,888 when it fully opens in time for the 2025-26 campaign.
Everton on course to make stadium switch for next season
Borson suggested Everton are way ahead of where clubs usually are at this point with new stadium builds.
He told Football Insider: “I think the good thing about it is they are starting that in February.
“They are obviously way ahead of a lot of these stadium projects, where they start to pull it all to an end much closer to the start of the new season.
“Everton have got a long time there to get any snagging done or wrinkles in the approvals.

“I would think they are very well placed to be in for next season.
“I think that sounds very positive for them.”
