Sterling told to ‘stop doing interviews’ after Man City transfer confession – pundit

Raheem Sterling needs to stop discussing his future in public and focus on Man City, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker suggested Sterling would not thrive at another team as City are set up to get the best of him.

The England star told the Financial Times last week (October 14) he would be open to moving a club that offered more game time.

As quoted by BBC Sport (October 15), Pep Guardiola admitted he could not guarantee Sterling regular game time.

The 26-year-old is out of contract with the Premier League champions in the summer of 2023.

“It’s still early doors in the season,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“At the weekend, Jack Grealish was rested and Sterling played. In the Champions League, Sterling was rested and Grealish played. Pep will keep rotating.

“Sterling’s got to stop doing these interviews and saying these things. Wait until January, wait until the end of the season and see how much football he gets. Then he can make his decision.

“For me, he’s still got a lot to give to Manchester City.

“Maybe in the future, he’s a young guy at 26, he might think ‘You know what, I want to try Spain, I want to try Italy’.

“Sometimes you have to look at it and think ‘Will I score the same amount of goals at another team?’. Manchester City play to Sterling’s strengths, balls into the back post for him, quick balls in behind. He might not get that at other teams.”

In other news, Man City have been tipped to seal the “massive” signing of a “machine”.
