Steve Bruce has revealed he is unsure if Mile Jedinak will return to full fitness ahead of Aston Villa’s final Championship clash against Brighton on Sunday.
The 32-year-old midfielder has been sidelined with a groin problem that saw him miss Saturday’s match against Blackburn, which Villa lost 1-0 at Ewood Park.
Promotion expert Bruce was quoted by Villa’s official Twitter account as saying that Jedinak was a big doubt as they play host to Chris Hughton’s Brighton side.
“Mile was nowhere near being involved at Blackburn,” Bruce said. “He has been playing with a bad groin. Whether he will make Brighton is a doubt.”

Jedinak has been one of Bruce’s first name on the Villa team sheet this season since taking over in October, despite signing three central midfielder in January in Conor Hourihane, Henri Lansbury and Birkir Bjarnason.
Making 35 appearances in all competitions, Jedinak’s season has been interrupted by injury as well as having to rest after travelling long distances to represent his country Australia.
Now, Jedinak may not be seen competitively in a Villa shirt until the 2017-18 season, if he is unable to prove his fitness in time to face Brighton on Sunday.
In what is a dead rubber for Villa, three points could see them climb to 11th in the Championship table but all the pressure will be on Brighton as they look to win to go up as champions.
In other Aston Villa news, these players were the three worst performers in the loss against Blackburn on Saturday.
