Steve Bruce delivers verdict on future of Aston Villa 27-year-old ahead of summer window

Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce insists he will do everything in his power to keep star goalscorer Jonathan Kodjia at the club.
Kodjia, 27, found the back of the net yet again on Saturday as Aston Villa beat Championship rivals Norwich 2-0 to extend their winning run to three consecutive games.
The Ivorian scored his third brace of the season during the impressive victory, taking his goal haul to 17 goals from 35 league appearances this season.
Bruce fears that the striker’s gold form could attract interest from the Premier League big boys this summer, but assured fans he will not be letting him leave without a fight.
He told the Birmingham Mail: “I’m sure we will do everything in our damnedest to keep hold of him but football is football. We will do our best to keep hold of him that’s for sure.

“How can he be denied if Chelsea come in? You can’t deny that but he knows that he’s in a big football club and he’s well-liked by everybody concerned.
“We don’t want to talk about selling, we just want to add to the team.”
The more immediate future, however, sees Kodjia bidding to become the first Aston Villa player to score 20 goals in a single league campaign since Peter White achieved the milestone during the 1980/81 campaign.
He has been the undoubted star performer at Villa Park this season, and has proven to be arguably the only consistent player within Bruce’s first-team squad.
The club forked out a hefty £11million sum to land him at the start of the season – a fee which could rise to £15million – but he has proven worthy of every penny so far.
In other Aston Villa transfer news, fans will be fuming as this experienced midfielder is set to be axed in the summer.
