Steve Bruce ready to make emphatic decision on future of a dozen Aston Villa players
By Danny Wright
Steve Bruce has admitted that he is ready to make an emphatic decision on a dozen Aston Villa players who are currently out on loan.
Controversial striker Ross McCormack is currently at Nottingham Forest while Carles Gil, Carlos Sanchez, Aaron Tshibola and Aly Cissokho are also on first-team wages at Villa Park but find themselves dotted around the continent at different clubs.
None of them have pulled up any trees in their time away from Birmingham but one player who has done well is Jordan Veretout at St. Etienne. He has enjoyed a solid season for the French club that managed to reach the knock-out stages of the Europa League.
Veretout was shipped out on loan at the beginning of the season and has so far scored four goals and provided four assists in 35 appearances across all competitions for the Ligue 1 side.
The 24-year-old Frenchman isn’t the only one fighting for his future though as Bruce has admitted that Villa are spending too much money on players who aren’t even at the club at the moment.

Bruce is ready to make a decision on a whole host of players’ futures in roughly a month.
“We’ve got 10/12 players out on loan at the moment. We’ve got to sort their futures out,” said Bruce, as quoted by the Aston Villa official website.
“We’re spending a lot of money on players who are not even here.
“So, we’ve got to resolve their futures and make decisions in the next four or five weeks.”
Bruce is already looking to ship some of his midfielders out as according to the Sun he is already looking to sell Mile Jedinak, despite his great form in recent weeks for his club.
Villa have Burton Albion in their next fixture this weekend and have won seven of their last eight matches to sit 11th in the Championship standings.
Football Insider Verdict
Out of all the players who are currently loaned out to other clubs, Veretout is one that has perhaps shown the biggest reason why he should stay. Bruce should been sending out his scouts to keep a watch on his performances in France and they must have been impressed by what they saw if they did. He’s become a lynchpin in the middle of the St. Etienne team and could turn out to be a good player next season as Villa look to return to the Premier League. However the other players who aren’t at the club haven’t shown enough to prove they deserve to stay at Villa Park.
