Steve McManaman makes emphatic Tottenham prediction ahead of Gent clash
By Harvey Byrne
Steve McManaman believes Tottenham should “absolutely destroy” Gent on Thursday evening.
The north London club are currently preparing to welcome the Belgian side to Wembley for the second leg clash.
Spurs are currently a goal down after losing 1-0 in Belgium last week, but many believe Mauricio Pochettino’s team can turn it around.
Former Real Madrid winger and current BT Sport pundit McManaman has strongly agreed with this view and has shared that Tottenham should win the match comfortably in an emphatic prediction.
“No disrespect to this Gent team, but prior to last week’s game they were eighth in the Belgian league,” started McMananman speaking on BT Sport.

“Tottenham should absolutely destroy them tomorrow and let’s hope they do. Get a bit of confidence at Wembley, score plenty of goals and let’s get them through with Manchester United.
“It’s going to be important to try and win this trophy.”
As McManaman mentioned, Gent are sat in eighth place, but in Belgium that could still see them qualify for the Europa League once more with seventh to 15th falling into a play-off competition for a place in Europe.
Meanwhile, Tottenham have bigger aspirations as they sit in third place with the aim of qualifying for the Champions League for a second season in a row.
The north London club are still competing on three fronts in the Premier League, FA Cup and Europe and like so many before them it would not be a surprise to see them give up on the Europa League with the prize at the end being the same if they finish in the top four.
