Steven Gerrard could be ‘tempted’ by Rangers return after source’s sack reveal – pundit

Kevin Campbell has suggested Steven Gerrard could be “tempted” to return to Rangers if the opportunity opens up.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Arsenal striker believes Gerrard could still get another job in the Premier League or Championship.

On 8 November, sources told this site that Giovanni van Bronckhorst will remain in charge of the Light Blues this week but is facing the possibility of the sack during the World Cup.

Ibrox bosses held talks on Monday about the Dutchman’s future and decided to stick with him at least until the mid-season break.

Van Bronckhorst may have bought himself some extra time after the Gers’ 1-0 league win over Hearts on Wednesday (9 November) but is still facing the prospect of being sacked during the break.

Gerrard is down as the bookies’ favourite to replace the current manager if things go south.

Other contenders include Michael Beale, Sean Dyche and Gary McAllister.

But Campbell suggested Gerrard could find another job in England.

I think you could say there is potentially unfinished business there [at Rangers] for Steven Gerrard but I do not know,” he told Football Insider.

Rangers

I still think Gerrard will get work this end, in the Premier League or even in the Championship. I do think he will get the opportunity to work.

But, if that does open up at Rangers he might be tempted to go back. He was a revelation at the football club.

In other news, Hutton has claimed Rangers fans ‘right to judge’ James Tavernier as Twitter footage emerges.
