Steven Seddon begins Motherwell medical after leaving Oxford – sources

Steve Seddon is undergoing a Motherwell medical today after agreeing a deal, sources have told Football Insider.

The left-back was available on a free transfer this summer following his exit from Oxford United, and he’s now set to be joining the Scottish Premiership side imminently.

Seddon, who joined Oxford in 2021, spent last season on loan at Burton Albion and became a regular for the Brewers.

The 26-year-old featured 42 times in all competitions for Burton and even contributed from an attacking sense with three goals and assists throughout those performances.

Steven Seddon brings experience to Motherwell

At 26 years of age, Seddon will bring plenty of experience with him to Motherwell after playing regularly since 2016 across the English pyramid.

While primarily playing in League Two, the left-back has amassed 203 career appearances, including League Two and the Championship.

Motherwell fans will welcome his defensive qualities, considering only three teams in the Scottish Premiership conceded more than them last season.

He also provides versatility, being able to play as a left midfielder, giving Stuart Kettlewell with even more options.

Motherwell might be looking to bolster their defensive options, but the club has allowed former captain Liam Kelly to depart this summer.

While the club extended his contract throughout the European Championships, his time with the Steelmen has now come to an end as he joined Rangers on a two-year deal, which could lead to Jack Butland departing the Gers.

In other news, Celtic fans have a “huge concern” over transfer window.
