Leigh Griffiths goads Rangers on Twitter after Celtic triumph

By Harvey Byrne

Striker Leigh Griffiths has goaded Rangers on Twitter after they fell to a 2-0 defeat against rivals Celtic on Sunday afternoon.

The Gers were faced with the task of beating the Hoops at Hampden Park in the Scottish Cup semi-final, but it proved to be too much as goals from Callum McGregor and Scott Sinclair on either side of half time sent Brendan Rodgers’ men through to the final.

Griffiths, 26, started from the bench in the encounter, but he came on after just 34 minutes when star Moussa Dembele left the field injured.

Now, the Scotland international is never one to shy away from social media and often gets involved with the Rangers fan base via his personal Twitter account.

This has then led to the forward posting on Sunday evening that Celtic strolled into the final, while stating that the penalty which was awarded for a foul on himself was “100%” correct.

Griffiths’ appearance on Sunday marked his 32nd in all competitions, which have seen him return 14 goals and 10 assists.

Only three of those appearances have come against Rangers this season and he has so far remained goalless against the Hoops.

But, he is likely to now start next Saturday at Ibrox with Dembele injured and judging by his activity on social media he will be keen to find the back of the net.

In other Rangers news, Steven Thompson believes the Gers need to recruit a new team in order to challenge Celtic once again.
