‘Stupid’ – Gary Neville in disbelief at what he saw Man City star do vs Arsenal

Gary Neville was left baffled by an altercation during Manchester City’s Premier League clash with Arsenal on Sunday.

On 21 September, Erling Haaland opened the scoring for Man City, as the striker’s rich vein of form continued.

Pep Guardiola’s men consequently held a 1-0 halftime lead over Arsenal, prompting Mikel Arteta to bring on Eberechi Eze and Bukayo Saka at the interval.

Saka had previously been out injured, but was able to make his first appearance since scoring against Leeds United on 23 August.

Gary Neville slams Man City ace Bernardo Silva

In the late exchanges of the second half of Arsenal’s clash with Man City, Bernardo Silva threw the ball at Leandro Trossard after a stoppage in play.

The Gunners man retaliated by throwing the ball back at the 31-year-old.

Speaking live on Sky Sports Main Event on 21 September, Neville said: “It is stupid from Silva as he has been booked.”

The midfielder had previously been shown a yellow card for a late challenge on Arsenal defender Gabriel in the 36th minute.

Pep Guardiola may have to win silverware to retain Bernardo Silva

Throughout an illustrious career with Man City, Silva has won six Premier League titles, the Champions League, four Carabao Cups, and two FA Cups.

However, Guardiola failed to lead his side to silverware last season, as the Etihad Stadium club fell well below their previous standards.

Meanwhile, Silva has attracted transfer interest from Juventus, and his contract in the North West expires at the end of the current campaign.

Man City may have to yield silverware to convince him that he should stay at the Etihad Stadium, instead of seeking a new challenge after nine seasons with Guardiola’s side.

However, the North West outfit displayed early signs of frailty when they were beaten by Tottenham and Brighton in successive Premier League fixtures in August.

Liverpool’s 100 per cent winning record in the Premier League has made competitions such as the Carabao Cup, FA Cup, and the Champions League more important for Man City this term.
