Summer exit on the cards for Rangers 26-year-old after making Caixinha bad books - report

By Harry Sykes

Pedro Caxinha has a massive decision to make over the future of Rangers bad boy Michael O’Halloran, according to a report.

The Daily Record claim that the 26-year-old winger is in manager Caixinha’s bad books after failing to turn up for Under-20s duty last month.

It is said that a summer exit is on the cards for O’Halloran following the recent disciplinary indiscretion.

He still has three years to run on his contract, which expires in the summer of 2020, but the Daily Record report that Rangers could still get a fee for the wide man as his stock remains high in Scotland.

The Celtic academy product, who was signed by former Ibrox manager Mark Warburton, got into hot water with Caixinha when he went AWOL after being selected for the club’s development side a fortnight ago.

O’Halloran has struggled to make an impact at the Light Blues since joining from St Johnstone for £500,000 in January 2016.

He has made just six league starts this season, featuring in only one of Caixinha’s seven games in charge of the team when he played the second half of the 1-1 draw against Motherwell in an unfamiliar wing-back position due to a spate of injuries.

Despite his recent disciplinary faux-pas, O’Halloran was on the bench for Saturday’s 2-0 defeat to Celtic at Ibrox although he was an unused substitute.

He has made 24 appearances in all competitions for Rangers this season, which have not yielded a single goal although he has supplied five assists.

O’Halloran was linked with moves to Hearts, Motherwell, Ross County and St Johnstone during the recent winter transfer window, although it remains to be seen whether either of the quartet will renew their interest in the coming months.

O’Halloran started off in the Celtic youth team set-up before spells at Bolton, Sheffield United, Carlisle, Tranmere and St Johnstone.

In other Rangers transfer news, Caixinha has made emphatic decisions on four players ahead of the summer window.
