Sunderland backed to beat Middlesbrough in race to sign Troy Parrott – Tottenham expert

Tottenham starlet Troy Parrott could join Sunderland on loan this summer.

That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

Parrott, 20, is currently in South Korea as part of Tottenham’s pre-season squad.

This comes after a loan at MK Dons in the 2021-22 season in which he made 46 appearances for the club and scored 10 goals.

Wenham is tipping Parrott to follow in the footsteps of former teammate Jack Clarke, who joined the Black Cats permanently on 9 July.

“I can see Tory Parrott going to Sunderland,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“I know Sunderland do have interest in him. They have a big Scottish striker at the moment but the beauty of Troy is that he can drop in as a 10.

“He would get a lot of game time there. Sunderland are a very big, well-supported club and I think Troy would thrive off that audience, that crowd.

“It would be a very good signing for them. He would be linking up with some of his friends in Jack Clarke and Dennis Cirkin.

“I know they have lost Nathan Broadhead from Everton, they have not been able to bring him back.

“If we could get Troy there, playing every week, that would be good. I know Middlesbrough are also interested but personally, I would send him to Sunderland.”

Parrott has made four senior appearances for Tottenham.

Two of those came in the 2019-20 Premier League.
