Sunderland player who lost 10 duels one of their three losers from draw vs Arsenal

Sunderland earned a huge point against league leaders Arsenal as they battled back from going behind to draw 2-2 through Brian Brobbey’s late goal.

Sunderland drew first blood on Wearside as Dan Ballard broke through from Nordi Mukiele‘s knock-down to fire past David Raya before the break.

Arsenal hit back in the second-half as Bukayo Saka netted at the near-post following some shoddy Sunderland defending, then Leandro Trossard scored fantastically from the edge of the box to make it 2-1.

Brian Brobbey was the hero as he notched in added-time after holding off Gabriel Magalhaes, but Football Insider have picked out three Sunderland players who struggled throughout their draw on home turf.

Enzo Le Fee

Sunderland were on the back-foot at the start of the second-half, but Enzo Le Fee played himself into trouble when he simply did not need to as Arsenal pounced to equalise.

The Frenchman took too much time to bring the ball out of the hosts’ defensive third and was dispossessed by Declan Rice with ease before two passes saw Saka in to score.

He was duly taken off less than 10 minutes later after that error, while he also lost the most duels of any player in the match (10) and took just three touches in the visitors’ penalty area.

Bertrand Traore

The Black Cats’ other wide man, Bertrand Traore, was completely ineffective as Riccardo Calafiori gave him nothing down the right flank all evening.

He failed to create a chance or take a shot on goal, while also winning just two of his five ground and aerial duels.

His evening was arguably summed up by a tumble to the floor that he took in the 20th minute under no pressure while trying to attack, and he was unsurprisingly taken off at the same time as Le Fee.

Reinildo

Reinildo’s red card against Aston Villa in September has shown Black Cats fans what kind of defender they can expect him to be this season.

He was pushed to left wing-back against the Gunners on Saturday, and did struggle with positioning and timing of his tackles all evening.

The 31-year-old was nowhere to be seen when Saka went through to score, and he was rightly booked late on for a clear foul on the England man as he ran him ragged late on.
