'Superb', 'Excellent' - BBC pundit drools over Tottenham fringe player who could exit club
BBC Sport pundit Garth Crooks was left drooling over the display of Tottenham goalkeeper Michel Vorm on Saturday.
Vorm, 34, made a series of brilliant saves to deny his former club Swansea from scoring as Spurs marched into the FA Cup semi-finals with relative ease by winning 3-0 at the Liberty Stadium.
Just after half-time the Dutchman made a fantastic double save to stop the Swans from getting back into the game, and although he could exit Spurs in the summer when his contract expires, Crooks was left raving about the shot-stopper’s performance.
“He had practically nothing to do until Martin Olsson hit a 20-yard stinger in the hope it might get Swansea back into the game. It would have done had Michel Vorm not been in superb form,” he said on the BBC Sport website.
“Not only did Vorm deny Olsson what would have been a fabulous goal but the former Swansea keeper immediately popped up like a jack-in-the box to make a double save, this time from Tammy Abraham who was only six yards out. An excellent performance from Tottenham’s “second choice” keeper.”
Vorm has been a fringe player for Tottenham ever since signing in 2014.

He has played second fiddle to Hugo Lloris for most of that time and has made just 10 appearances in all competitions this season.
Dutch news outlet VI claims that Eredivisie title-holders Feyenoord are eyeing up a move for the goalkeeper in the summer when his contract expires.
Football Insider verdict
Vorm is a very solid back-up goalkeeper option and his performance against Swansea may have give Mauricio Pochettino a lot to think about. The Spurs manager likes to have three goalkeeper options. He spent most of the summer trying to sign Paulo Gazzaniga while the year before he had Pau Lopez on loan from Espanyol just to add some extra depth. Letting Vorm go will mean that more time and money will be spent this summer to get in a new back-up shot-stopper, but if Vorm has shown his form is still good, then Pochettino should extend the Dutchaman’s deal by another year.
