Supercomputer makes new Premier League title prediction for Arsenal and Man City after Gunners draw vs Wolves

Arsenal have retained their status as favourites for the Premier League title despite capitulating at Wolves on Wednesday night.

The Gunners were 2-0 up at Molineux before a stunning late collapse saw the home side score a stoppage-time equaliser.

Goals from Bukayo Saka and Piero Hincapie looked to be enough to restore the seven-point advantage at the top of the Premier League, but Hugo Bueno quickly cut the deficit with a curled shot from the edge of the box.

And after a mix-up between Gabriel and David Raya, Wolves youngster Tom Edozie struck towards goal, with his shot deflecting in off the sprawling Riccardo Calafiori.

A game full of emotion exploded into chaos after the final whistle, when Gabriel Jesus shoved over Yerson Mosquera.

Supercomputer updates Premier League title chances

The new year has seen the exposure of an Arsenal side struggling massively to cope with the pressure of being named firm favourites for the Premier League title.

Despite the consistent faltering of their closest challengers, Man City and Aston Villa, Arteta’s side have failed time and time again to extend their advantage.

The Gunners have dropped points on five separate occasions and have turned an advantage that should have been in the double digits into just two points.

With the North London side still due to travel to the Etihad Stadium to take on Man City next month, that lead could easily become a deficit.

It is a familiar story for Arsenal, who have been here on four straight occasions. Hope is not lost, but fans have begun to grow tired of a consistent pattern.

Opta‘s supercomputer is not ready to give up yet, however, and despite a reduction, continues to back the Gunners to win the Premier League with a 79.69 per cent chance.

A revitalised Man City, who will be massively enthused by Wednesday’s scenes, carry just a 17.26 per cent chance of completing the comeback.

How do Arsenal and Man City’s run-ins compare?

Man City have been here before against Arsenal, and reigned supreme on both previous occasions due to their unstoppable form to end the season.

But this is not the same version of Pep Guardiola’s team. This one has shown vulnerability on several occasions this season.

That should not matter to Arsenal, however, who will still win the Premier League if they don’t falter.

The Gunners will face the North London derby to start with on Sunday, before the visit of Chelsea next week.

Their most difficult games past that likely consist of the trip to Man City and to the London Stadium, where they will likely play a West Ham fighting for their place in the Premier League.

Man City on the other hand, still face a trip to Elland Road – where Leeds United have caused several upsets – the visit of Arsenal, and trips to West Ham, Chelsea, Everton and Bournemouth.

Villa could still have a part to play, too, when they travel to the Etihad Stadium on the final day.
