Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed that he will be rotating his squad and that he already has a starting XI ready for the club’s FA Cup clash against Newport County on Wednesday night.
Spurs play host to the League Two side, who beat Championship club Leeds United in the third round, at Wembley after being held to a 1-1 draw at Rodney Parade, with Spurs leaving it until the 82nd minute to score the equaliser after the home side had netted shortly before half time.
Spurs go into the clash off the back of a dramatic and hard fought 2-2 draw with Liverpool on Sunday, with Harry Kane’s last minute penalty snatching a point from the Reds, while their next league match is the north London derby against Arsenal next weekend.
As a result of such crucial fixtures at the top of the Premier League table, Pochettino has stated rotation is a certainty, and that on Tuesday he already knew who would be starting the game.
He told football.london: “We are going to rotate the team for sure.
“We need rotate and use players that haven’t played too much in the Premier League. We have a very busy period and we need everyone fit and available to play.
“I have decided the starting XI. You can not say we don’t take it seriously because we rotate.”
Spurs managed to reach the semi finals of last year’s FA Cup competition, while they last failed to reach the fourth round back in the 2013/14 season.
