Chris Sutton has fired back at BT Sports pundit Robbie Savage after the Welshman said Sutton should stop talking about Rangers all the time.
Sutton joked he was “surprised” Savage was pro-Rangers after being turned down by the Gers in 2012 when he offered to play for free.
Savage had earlier taken a playful shot at Sutton on Twitter asking the former Celtic striker to try talk sense as he wished him a happy birthday.
“Thanks Rob for the advice…surprised you are so pro-Rangers after you offered your services and they didn’t want you when they were in Div 2,” Sutton said on his personal Twitter account.
Happy birthday @chris_sutton73 , this year please please try and speak a bit of sense and stop talking about rangers all the time 🤡

Savage tried, and failed, to win an Ibrox deal after offering his services when the Light Blues were kicked out of the Scottish Premiership in 2012.
Sutton has regularly provoked an angry response from Gers fans with his regular comments on the Ibrox giants.
The former Hoops striker scored 86 times in 199 games for Celtic during his time in Glasgow.
Football Insider verdict:
Savage offering to play for Rangers in 2012 was nothing but a bang-average player looking to use the Gers’ profile to boost his profile as a pundit. Hopefully it is the last time the pair discuss the Ibrox giants as it gets painful to listen to at times. Savage can’t hide his disdain for Scottish football at the best of times and Sutton often goes with whatever soundbite he thinks will get him most buzz. They are two dire pundits, although it is nice to see someone reminding Robbie Savage the Gers passed over him to sign Ian Black.
