Sviatchenko reveals secret behind Celtic winning streak

By Danny Wright

Erik Sviatchenko has said that he is hungry for more victories with Celtic as their domestic streak continues – something he puts down to the team’s winning mentality.

Rodgers’ men haven’t tasted anything but victory since their 2-0 loss to Barcelona in late November and the Danish centre-back has explained that the winning mentality is something that is crucial to the streak continuing.

“We all want to be or are winners in some way, so you never get tired of winning games,” Sviatchenko said in The Herald.

“There is no better feeling, (than) after you have won a game, and that is why we never give up and want to keep pushing forward and get as many points as we can at the end.

“Winning is a nice feeling and we have built something that we don’t want to spoil by not being ready or not thinking that it isn’t important to win every game that we can.

“It is all about the mental preparation and the approach to the games, because each one will be important.”

The 25-year-old has been a crucial part to Brendan Rodgers’ side that have won all but one game in the Scottish Premiership this season and he is revelling in the winning streak.

The Hoops have won 25 domestic games in a row since their 2-2 draw with Inverness in September.

Celtic signed the Danish centre-back last summer from FC Midtjylland and he has made 33 appearances for the club in all competitions this season and has only been on the losing side on five occasions.

Celtic are 24 points clear at the top of the league with Aberdeen their nearest rivals.

After winning their last three games without conceding a goal, the Hoops travel back to Inverness on Wednesday looking to punish the only team that has taken points from them in the Premiership this season.
