Exclusive: Swansea City agree deal to sign Ricardo Santos

Swansea City have agreed to sign free agent Ricardo Santos following his departure from Bolton Wanderers, sources have told Football Insider.

Santos had offers from a number of clubs both at home and abroad, but the 29-year-old has decided to make the move to south Wales.

It is believed he has reached a full agreement with Swansea.

The Portuguese centre-back spent five seasons with Bolton, making over 200 appearances for The Trotters in all competitions.

The ex-Barnet and Peterborough United defender will become Swans manager Alan Sheehan’s third summer signing after the arrival of Bobby Wales and Zeidane Inoussa.

Wales penned a four-year deal at City as he approached the end of his Kilmarnock contract. The 19-year-old striker came through Killie’s academy and a compensation package was agreed between the two clubs.

Winger Inoussa was signed from Swedish club BK Hacken for an undisclosed fee as Sheehan looks to push on next season, having landed the manager’s job on a permanent basis at the end of April.

Swansea boss Alan Sheehan took the job on a permanent basis in April.

After an 11th-place Championship finish in 2024-25 season, Sheehan – who replaced Luke Williams originally as caretaker boss after seven defeats in nine – is keen to mould the squad for a tilt at promotion.

Though he was born in Portugal, Santos is of Cape Verdean descent and was called up by their national team last month ahead of friendlies with Malaysia and Georgia.

Swansea City could increase bid for Lincoln City star Ethan Erhahon

Swansea’s £600,000 bid for Lincoln midfielder Ethan Erhahon was firmly rejected last month, but the deal could well be revived via a higher offer.

Erhahon is a target for a host of EFL clubs after the highly-rated 24-year-old produced another impressive season for Lincoln.

According to Football League World, the Swans are ready to up their offer to over £1million plus add-ons. Erhahon has spent the last two-and-a-half years with the Imps after joining from St Mirren in January 2023.
