'There for the taking' - Charlie Nicholas makes bold prediction for Tottenham v Real Madrid
By Russell Edge
Former Arsenal star and Sky Sports pundit Charlie Nicholas has backed Tottenham to overcome current Champions League holders Real Madrid when they clash at Wembley on Wednesday night.
The two clubs currently sit top of their group as they look to secure a place in the knock out rounds of Europe’s premier club competition, having played out a 1-1 draw at the Bernabeu in their last match.
They both sit on seven points, having both beaten Borussia Dortmund and Apoel Nicosia in their other group games, and as a result victory would put either side in a commanding position with two games left to play.
However, despite their standing as reigning champions, Nicholas believes that Real Madrid are looking vulnerable and thinks that Mauricio Pochettino and his men will take advantage of the predicament Zinedine Zidane’s side find themselves in.
However he doubts whether Harry Kane should make an appearance after his injury lay off and insists Pochettino refrains from taking the risk.

Predicting a 2-1 win for Spurs, Nicholas said on Sky Sports’ website: “Harry Kane would be very keen to play this but I would think it would be one hell of a risk.
“Mauricio Pochettino will be desperate to play him but he is a strong enough character to think his side are virtually through and if there’s any doubt then it is not worth it.
“Real Madrid had a shocking result losing to Girona on Sunday and if Kane is fully fit then they are there for the taking. They look all over the place and looking to blame each other.
Tottenham will be hoping to bounce back from two successive defeats, having been knocked out of the League Cup by West Ham before slipping to a narrow 1-0 defeat to Manchester United in their Premier League clash on Saturday.
In other Tottenham news, Harry Redknapp has revealed that the club were on the brink of securing a Premier League superstar.
