TalkSPORT pundit urges West Ham to match eight-figure bid for PL star, Carroll will thrive
By Harvey Byrne
TalkSPORT pundit and former West Ham defender Daniel Gabbidon has urged the Hammers to match Burnley’s £10million bid for Robert Snodgrass.
Sky Sports claimed on their transfer centre blog (Wednesday, 10.49am) that the Clarets had an eight-figure bid accepted by Hull for their star player.
Snodgrass is a player the east London side have been heavily linked with in January after being the star of a very poor Hull team.
Now, speaking on his personal Twitter account on Wednesday afternoon, Gabbidon has stated West Ham need to match Burnley’s offer, believing forward Andy Carroll will thrive with him in the team.

Snodgrass, 29, has starred in 24 fixtures in all competitions for the Tigers this season, bringing a return of nine goals and four assists.

He has been a standout performer in a team sat in 19th place in the Premier League table, attracting many top flight suitors.
West Ham are reportedly after a new wide player with star performer Dimitri Payet looking for a way out of the club.
It is claimed by the Sun that the Hammers are holding out for £30million for the France international, meaning that if he does go they could have a lot of money spare to spend on Snodgrass.
Football Insider verdict:
Gabbidon is correct in saying that West Ham should match Burnley’s bid for Snodgrass. The player is a few levels below a player of Payet’s standard, but he will do a more than adequate job for the Hammers in the Premier League. £10million isn’t that much for English clubs anymore and a player of Snodgrass’ ability would usually be closer to the £20million mark. West Ham should look to take advantage of his low value and they would surely be a more attractive prospect than Burnley. Gabbidon also mentioned the potential link-up with Carroll and the two have the potential to be a devastating partnership in the English top flight if Snodgrass does make the move across.
