Talks scheduled: Agent reveals 27-year-old defender edging closer to Leeds deal

Giuseppe Bellusci’s agent has revealed that the on-loan Leeds defender will hold talks with Empoli over a permanent move in the near future.
The Italian defender has become a prominent member of Empoli’s side this season in Italy’s top flight, after being allowed to leave Garry Monk’s side in the summer on loan.
The 27-year-old’s agent Michelangelo Minieri told Italian publication TuttoMercatoWeb that Bellusci has a loan-to-buy deal in place, and that talks are soon to be held over his future.
“He is on loan with a right to buy in favour of Empoli,” Minieri said. “We will soon talk about it with the club. We will discuss with Empoli to understand the ideas and what we will do together.
“Empoli could buy him. There will be a meeting to understand their plans. We will decide the future with the club. In the meantime, it was important [for Bellusci] to return to Serie A and give a positive signal.”

Bellusci is not expected to be a member of Monk’s plans when his loan with Empoli ends, despite having another 12 months to go on his Elland Road contract.
Wearing the number six shirt with the relegation threatened side, Bellusci has made 27 appearances at the heart of Empoli’s defence as they sit in 17th place in Serie A.
The former Catania defender has remained a fiery character in Empoli’s fight against relegation, picking up 12 yellow cards in the blue of Empoli.
Bellusci was one of co-owner Massimo Cellino’s first signings at Elland Road, as the controversial owner joined in the summer of 2014 before bringing in 15 new players.
However, he failed to have an impact in Yorkshire and became renowned for his fiery temper and calamitous mistakes at the back.
