Wolves look as though they are set for a battle to sign Rio Ave enforcer Pele after his agent confirmed that there is major interest in his client.

Ulisses Santos has detailed a major update on Pele’s situation going into the summer transfer window, revealing that he has held talks with numerous clubs who are looking to snap up the Guinea-Bissau international.

Portuguese newspaper Record, as translated by reliable journalist Jan Hagen on his personal Twitter account and SportWitness, has reported that the 26-year-old was the subject of an £8.7million bid by Wolves and he will now move to England.

Now, Santos has told Portuguese broadcaster Antena 1 that the midfielder will be on the move in the summer transfer window.

“He’s a player in high demand. I’ve talked to several clubs interested in him.” “The only thing I can say is that it seems to me he’ll be transferred this summer,” he said, as quoted by Hagen.

Football Insider verdict

Wolves look as though they are not willing to wait around for the transfer window to open before doing their business. They will have to act quickly this summer to get their squad up to the level that they want it to be as the Premier League transfer window will be closing earlier than it has done in the past. The World Cup will also throw another spanner into the works so the likes of Jeff Shi and Nuno Espirito Santo are not expected to have much time to go on their summer holidays. Pele would be a decent signing, however it seems that Wolves may be overspending on him a bit.

In other Wolves news, Wanderers are likely to sign this £95,000-a-week Tottenham player in the summer.
