Talks underway: Ashley sanctions Newcastle swoop for title-winning powerhouse forward - reliable journalist

Newcastle United are in talks to make a move for Feyenoord forward Nicolai Jorgensen, according to a reliable journalist.
Chronicle reporter Lee Ryder claimed on his personal Twitter account on Tuesday night that Magpies owner Mike Ashley has sanctioned a swoop for Jorgensen, 27, after allowing Rafa Benitez access to the funds requited to snap up the Denmark international.

Jorgensen is a powerhouse of a centre-forward and was in stunning form when he helped Feyenood win the Dutch Eredivise title last season.
The former Copenhagen and Bayer Leverkusen striker, known for his physicality, netted 25 goals and supplied 17 assists in 42 appearances as the Rotterdam outfit won the Dutch title.
This season he has not been as prolific, but still has found the net on nine occasions in 19 total outings – two of which coming in the Champions League.
It is understood that it Newcastle are now in line for a big few days, especially with the transfer window just a week away from slamming shut.
Football Insider verdict
Jorgensen is a top centre-forward and would be a perfect signing for Newcastle. He has proven himself in the Dutch Eredivise and has also been a hit in the Champions League despite Feyenoord crashing out at the group stages. Benitez needs a new striker and the Denmark international could be that man. Selling Aleksandar Mitrovic should provide a bulk of the funding to make a move for Jorgensen, but it seems odd that Ashley has just conjured up these funds now after a takeover at St James’ Park fell through. Has Ashley been holding the money back until now? If so that was a dangerous game to play and it shows that the businessman may have been withholding money from the club as he looks to sell it.
In other Newcastle United news, Ashley has also sanctioned the Magpies to swoop for this £7million left-back from a top six club.
