TalkSPORT pundit slams West Ham senior man on Twitter

By Harvey Byrne

TalkSPORT pundit Daniel Gabbidon has slammed Dimitri Payet on Twitter, stating he struggles once the going gets tough.

West Ham boss Slaven Bilic revealed on Thursday that the senior player no longer wants to play for the Hammers.

“We have said we don’t want to sell our best players but Payet does not want to play for us,” said Bilic, as quoted by BBC Sport.

This brought an angry reaction from many, including former Hammers defender Gabbidon.

The retired footballer hit out at the France international on his personal Twitter account, stating that he now knows why Payet was signed for just £10million.

Payet, 29, made the switch to east London from Ligue 1 outfit Marseille in the summer of 2015.

It was immediately clear that the player was a class above and West Ham tied him up to a new £125,000-a-week deal in February 2016, taking him up to 2021.

After his debut campaign at the club he was named the club’s player of the season, while also being named in the PFA Team of the Year with 15 goals and 17 assists in 44 encounters.

However, he has struggled in a poor West Ham side this season and he has returned with just three goals and eight assists in 22 fixtures.

His time at the Hammers now looks to be nearing it’s end, but the hierarchy at the club may convince their star player to stay until the summer at the least.
