Man United fans think Erik ten Hag will be kept at the club beyond this summer after Kieran McKenna fell out of the running.

The Ipswich boss, 38, is now expected to sign a new contract, pulling out of the race to replace Ten Hag and leaving United with fewer options.

Football Insider exclusively revealed that talks were being with McKenna’s representatives about taking over at Old Trafford, but his decision to snub the approach and stay at Portman Road appears to have been made.

Fans suggested that McKenna may have been made aware of the decision to keep Ten Hag in the job before he opted to sign a new deal, rather than the other way around.

It had initially been thought that Ten Hag would lose his job regardless of the outcome of the final, but the outcry from fans may now have led to a change of heart.

Many supporters have expressed their views that, with McKenna now ruled out of the running, Ten Hag may already have been told United’s decision on his future.
