Celtic were demolished 5-0 by Paris Saint-Germain in their Champions League opener on Tuesday night – and fans took to Twitter to destroy Stuart Armstrong.

Brendan Rodgers’ side are unbeaten in 54 domestic matches but they could not cope with the expensively assembled French side.

First-half goals from £400million front trio Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Edinson Cavani gave the visitors a three-goal advantage at the break.

A Mikael Lustig own goal and a second from Cavani gave a scoreline that did not flatter PSG, who completely dominated the match and blew the Hoops at their home citadel.

Celtic fans were particularly critical of the performance of playmaker Armstrong, who was given the nod to start over Tom Rogic, but lasted only 45 minutes before being substituted and replaced by the Australian.
