‘Terrible news’, ‘We’ll regret this’ – West Ham fans react on Twitter to confirmed enforcer deal

By Harvey Byrne

West Ham fans have aired their disappointment on Twitter after it was announced that midfield enforcer Havard Nordtveit had departed the club for Bundesliga outfit Hoffenheim.

The 26-year-old Norway international made the switch to east London in a free transfer deal from Borussia Monchengladbach last summer, agreeing a five-year deal.

However, after playing just 21 times for the club in all competitions with a number of his appearances coming in an unnatural right-back position he is now returning to Germany, as confirmed by the official West Ham website on Tuesday afternoon.

Many West Ham fans are sad to see Nordtveit depart on social media with a number believing that they did not see the best that he has to offer.

Here are a selection of their messages on Twitter:

Nordtveit has previously proven successful in Germany, playing for such clubs as FC Nuremberg and Borussia Monchengladbach and he will now be looking to put the past season behind him.

West Ham, meanwhile have only brought in one player themselves so far this summer with Pablo Zabaleta joining on a free transfer from Manchester City.

However, they are expected to make a lot more additions as they look to return to a European competition.

In other West Ham transfer news, the Hammers are looking to employ a twice successful negotiating tactic to land this Premier League man.
