Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard returned to the Hoops’ starting XI against Motherwell in the Scottish Premiership and rewarded Brendan Rodgers’ faith with a hat-trick in a 5-1 win.
The on-loan Paris Saint-Germain striker has struggled for regular game time at Celtic since joining at the end of the transfer window but will have done his chances of appearing more no harm.
Eduoard opened the scoring for the Glasgow giants before making it 2-0 before the break as the sides went head-to-head for the third time in a week.
The 19-year-old fringe player grabbed his hat-trick near the end to give the Hoops a 4-1 lead as they romped past the Steelmen.
Celtic fans were delighted to see the Frenchman get on the scoresheet and help Brendan Rodgers side towards another three points.
Here are some of their comments on Twitter:
What a performance after making 6 changes 👏👏 Édouard was terrific all day, his hold up play was excellent for a kid, 3 goals and could've had more if he didn't try to lay a couple off 👏👏

Great to see Edouard get a hat-trick today, hopefully that’ll be the making of him in a Celtic jersey and give him the confidence to go on and make a favourable impression before the end of the season #67☘️☘️☘️

Edouard could score a hat trick today but he won't be Odsonne to start on Tuesday against Anderlecht

The goals were Eduoard’s first at Celtic Park since his move and helped Brendan Rodgers’ side extend their unbeaten domestic run to 67 games.
The 19-year-old has made 8 appearances since moving to Glasgow on a season-long loan deal and will be hoping to feature when the Hoops welcome Anderlecht in the Champions League in midweek.
If Rodgers’ side can avoid losing to the Belgian giants by three goals or more they will secure a place in the Europa League after Christmas by sealing third place in the group.
