‘Disgusting’ – Aston Villa star hits out on Instagram after discovering shocking image

By Abigail Withey

Aston Villa captain John Terry has expressed his anger on social media after his picture was shockingly used on cigarette packaging in India without his consent.

The skipper took to his personal Instagram account where he shared the picture of the packet along with his thoughts on the matter.

The 36-year-old Villa star posted the photo on his Instagram story, which can be watched by his followers and will disappear within 24 hours of posting it.

The Indian cigarette company have used a blurred image of the former England international star’s head and torso with the caption: “Smoking kills”.

Alongside numerous angry-faced emojis the Villa defender wrote: “Disgusting from this company ‘Gold Flake’ using my imagine on their cigarettes.”

Terry continued to rant: “I hate smoking!!!”

Discovering the image would have been an added blow to the captain as his side lost 2-0 to Middlesbrough on Tuesday in the third round of the League Cup.

It will be vital for Terry to put his frustration behind him has he leads his team mates in their upcoming fixtures against Nottingham Forest at Villa Park on Saturday.

Since moving from Chelsea, the centre-back has seen a different set of results to what he was used to at Stamford Bridge as he has gone from being a Premier League champion to 13th place in the Championship standings.
