'Test myself at a higher level' – 23-y/o international responds after reported Celtic interest
Celtic have been linked with a move for Hibernian midfielder John McGinn this summer and the player himself has admitted that he has ambitions to further his career at the highest level.
According to a report in The Scottish Sun, the five-goal and four-assist ace is being touted as a big-money signing for the Hoops and with the 23-year-old’s contract due to expire next summer, Hibbies will likely be willing to listen to offers for the midfield maestro.
As quoted in the Scottish Sun, the seven-times capped Scottish international stated that it would take a “special” offer to leave Easter Road.
“I’ve always said the same thing — I’m learning, I’m getting better and I’m loving playing in front of sell-out crowds.
“I feel as if I’m getting better all the time.
“At the same time, though, I’m ambitious. I want to go and test myself at a higher level.
“However, it would have to be something better than Hibs. I’ve got a year left of my contract and it would have to be something special for me to leave.”

Football Insider verdict:
McGinn is saying all the right things – that he would be happy to stay and loves his current club but does not in any way rule out a move from the Scottish Premiership outfit. He’s had a fantastic season from the centre of the park and would be a great addition, particularly with Scott Brown not getting any younger. The 23-year-old’s comments will undoubtedly alert the Hoops as to his availability and with his contract up next summer we can’t see the Hibbies holding on to one of their most prized assets if he could leave for nothing next year.
