‘That wins titles’ – Rangers fans blown away by ‘incredible’ Jack Butland as footage emerges from 3-1 win over Kilmarnock
Plenty of Rangers fans were blown away by an “incredible” save from Jack Butland in their win over Kilmarnock on Tuesday (2 January).
The Gers bounced back from their bruising Old Firm defeat to secure a 3-1 victory against the Killies courtesy of strikes from Ross McCausland, Abdallah Sima and Todd Cantwell.
However, their “super” shot-stopper provided one of the best moments for Philippe Clement’s side with a crucial one-on-one save in the first half.
Kilmarnock’s David Watson slipped a pin-point through-ball which split Rangers’ defence in the 29th minute at Ibrox, leaving Kyle Vassell with just Butland to beat.
Vassell did excellently to generate space for himself to shoot, but the Englishman was quick off his line and pulled off a huge save to keep the game level and 0-0.
Butland has been a standout for the Gers since his free move in the summer and has started all 20 of Rangers’ league games this season, conceding only 11 goals.
While many summer additions have faced their fair share of criticism for underperforming, the 30-year-old is almost unanimously loved and respected among the Ibrox faithful for frequently bailing them out in tough moments.
In light of his latest heroics, supporters have taken to social media in awe of his “massive” save.
