The Premier League icons Dominic Calvert-Lewin can match if he makes history for Leeds United vs Liverpool
Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored for the sixth consecutive Premier League game when he netted against Sunderland on Sunday.
Leeds United drew 1-1 with Sunderland at the Stadium of Light, with the Englishman capping off a superb team move.
With the goal, the former Everton striker made club history by becoming the first Leeds player to ever score in six straight Premier League games and the first to do it in league competition since John McCole in the 1959-60 season.
Calvert-Lewin suffered a poor start to his Leeds career after arriving on a free transfer in the summer, but the 28-year-old has proved a masterful signing in recent weeks.
Leeds will travel to take on Liverpool at Anfield on Thursday, where the striker can make further history if he scores. Here, Football Insider looks at three of the Premier League icons to have done it previously.
Thierry Henry – 1999-00
Calvert-Lewin has been mentioned alongside Harry Kane in England‘s options in recent weeks, but even the former Tottenham striker did not manage to score seven in a row.
Incredibly, Arsenal legend Thierry Henry did it in his first year in England – the 1999-00 season – netting nine goals across seven games against the likes of Tottenham, Leeds and Chelsea.
Widely regarded among the best to ever play in the Premier League, the Frenchman won the Golden Boot four times and scored 175 goals across eight years with the Gunners.
After leaving to join Barcelona in 2010, Henry later returned for a brief loan spell with Arsenal, where he scored his final Premier League goal.
Alan Shearer – 1996-97
The Premier League’s all-time top goal-scorer only once managed to achieve the feat that Calvert-Lewin is going for on Thursday.
Alan Shearer holds the record for goals with 260, across 14 years with Blackburn Rovers and Newcastle United.
His longest streak of consecutive scoring games came in the 1996-97 season, when he scored in seven consecutive games for Newcastle.
His former club, Blackburn, were the first opponent in a fixture run that also included Manchester United, Aston Villa, Leeds, Chelsea and Arsenal.
Sergio Aguero – 2019-20
A more recent Premier League legend, only five players have ever scored more goals than Sergio Aguero.
The former Manchester City striker netted 184 across 10 years with the Citizens, and won the Premier League five times.

His longest streak of consecutive goals spanned across two seasons, with the majority of them coming in a league campaign that his side did not win.
